Through the Storm!

This world is deceiving. Life isn’t always sunshine and rainbows and at times it feels defeating. Everyone goes through a stormy season, but we need to learn to trust God through the storm. Let Him control the rain and thunder. He’s got you!

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

Joshua 1:9

There will be times when you face difficulty and think that the world is caving in on you. At times you question why God has you going through such a rough patch, but even in the midst of the toughest battles He has a plan. Our God is always working.

Oh, let me tell ya… ALWAYS WORKING!

These storms always come with a purpose and are designed to increase your faith and trust in Jesus. God puts these hardships in your life for a reason. He uses them to mold you into the person you were made to be. Have you ever heard the saying, “You grow through what you go through?”

That’s exactly what is going on!

Through the storms you are growing in Christ and being shaped in His image.

One of the most heartbreaking, yet victorious stories in the Bible comes from the book of Job. Now as we may know, Job was a very devout Christian, he was strong in his faith and received tremendous worldly wealth. But with all his prosperous seasons, came a season of great devastation. He lost everything he had. However, even through such a difficult time, Job kept his faith in God and trusted Him to deliver him from his sorrow.

The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.

Job 1:21

Job accepted both the good and the bad, knowing that they both had their purposes in Gods eyes. Job dealt with his stormy season, but eventually Job was restored and was given more than he had before. God blessed Job for responding to the hardships with faith and trust. Job chose to maintain his faith in Christ and endured his difficult season while trusting in God’s plan and His timing. Job is a great example that we can ask God why we have to suffer, how we can learn from it, and asking for his guidance to get us through.

As for me, I would seek God, and to God would I commit my cause, who does great things and unsearchable, marvelous things without number: he gives rain on the earth and sends waters on the fields; he sets on high those who are lowly, and those who mourn are lifted to safety.

Job 5:8-11

There are times in our lives when we feel like we are at the lowest point of the valley and its hard. Really hard. But we need to remember that there is a purpose for every season. Trust in God’s plan and His timing. He will guide you through the storm and allow you to grow because of it. Lean on Him, pray for his guidance, and learn from the battle. The hardships won’t last forever, and like Job, you WILL come out victorious on God’s side.

*Go give this AMAZING song a listen. It truly grasps the idea of trusting God in every season. He is God of both the hills and the valleys and with Him, we are never alone!

"When I’m standing on the mountain, I didn’t get there on my own. When I’m walking through the valley, I know I am not alone. You’re God of the hills and valleys."
